The Cheese Cutter Hat is also very functional due in no small part to its appropriateness in all seasons. A decent wool blended cheese cutter will keep the head nice and cosy during the cooler autumn and winter months whilst a decent linen or cotton flat cap will keep the sun out of your eyes (and melanomas at bay!) during Sprint and summer.
Types of Cheese Cutter
How to get the right fit in 3 steps
1. Measure your head
2. Choose your fabric
The best thing to do is think about when you will be wearing the hat most (time of day, season) and consider the climate of where you live.
Generally, cotton and linen are great for Spring and Summer as they're light and airy. Wool and polyester combinations tend to be good for Autumn and Winter.
3. Inspect the construction
Things to watch out for: poor stitching (it should be double stitched throughout with no threads splitting) and bobbling (suggesting a fabric that will not handle water very well - or a hat that has been worn and returned!).
